Varilight 3 Way Intermediate Light Switches

What is an Intermediate Light Switch?

An Intermediate Light Switch is where 3 lighting points control the same circuit.

One light switch in a bedroom controlling say a central light would be a 1 gang 1 way light switch.

On a staircase, a light switch at the bottom and at the top of the stairs controlling the landing light circuit would be a 2 way circuit.

A 3 way circuit, considered with the use of two intermediate switches and 1, 2 way light switch would be something like and open plan living or lounge area, switch on at the entry point in the room, switch on/off at a far corner of the room and then perhaps on exit to a garden area the third switch may also be present.

An example of an intermediate switch, is the Varilight XS7D as can be seen by clicking here.

Another option of creating a ligthing circuit within a large room such as the idea mentioned above would be to use the master & slave Varilight remote touch dimmer switches, here not only would it allow a complete intermediate circuit, but also give you a complete remote control home automation feature, possibly (depending on plate style and wattage) for less then £100.

This then extends the intermediate issue from 3 way, to unlimited amount of 'ways' by simply adding the required number of slave dimmer switch units.

This is a unique product that allows such light switch control from multiway locations, idea for town houses, long corridors and large open plan rooms with multi switch locations.
